Leaders in Super Bowl Ads

Who were the winners and losers in the $3 million dollar for 30 second attention getting ads? The few that will have staying power are the ones with a human connection: my favorite was the little boy asking his father where babies come from; it was fun and oh so much a part of everyday life. Most adults can relate to telling kids about some far-fetched planet where babies stay and the travel time to get here is nine months. Kudos to Kia Sorrento for its space babies slot.

The ads that were grating were the ones where people were smacking each other around or stuff was blowing up. Don’t we have enough of this on the daily news?

More to the point is if we are going to make our culture more healthy and friendly why do we keep showing people at their worst? Why is there always mean spirited competition and someone lording it over someone else?

Haven’t we taken the winner/loser, one-upmanship contest to the extreme?

With all the craziness in this world that comes in the form of violence with guns and fists when are we going to move to the place of sharing, caring, and good humor? The ads that will be remembered are the ones where we honor each other.

Doritos "Daddy Princess" was good natured fun as was the Rav4 “Getting Your Wish” ad. At the other extreme was the Oreo “riot in the library”. I say down with smashing and destroying and up with good humor for us humans. It’s what the world needs now!
