Going to a Scandinavian spa is a regular routine in Scandinavian culture. Le Nordik Nature Spa has brought that concept of northern wellness to Gatineau, Quebec with their thermal pool wonderland.
Various pools differ in temperature from super hot to freezing cold, both warming your heart and chilling your bones. But that’s the point: Soaking your body in extreme temperatures stimulates your immune system, oxygenates your body and eliminates toxins.
Le Nordik Scandinavian Spa
Hanging at Le Nordik Nature Spa isn’t cheap, though. A day pass is $44 CDN, but you can stay all day (have a nutritious lunch at the on-site restaurant).
With admission, you get access to the outdoor thermal pools, cold pools, Finnish sauna, Nordic waterfalls, outdoor fireplace and relaxation areas. Two towels, a bottle of water and a lock are given once you arrive and you must wear a bathing suit and sandals at all times. Adults 18 years and older are able to use the facilities.
From there, get ready for a full body treat. A staff member will tell you which order to dip into the pools and how long to stay in them. There’s a hot, cold and relaxation process that is repeated 3-4 times.
Le Nordik Lodge
For those who just can’t get enough, you can stay at the adjoining lodge accommodation. Rates range from $495 CDN for 6 people (+ $45 CDN for each additional person). Reservations can be made by calling 819-827-1111 ext. 335.
Massage Therapy
Relaxation, hot stone and Thai massages are available starting at $115 CDN, as well as body treatments. The packages on offer combine a variety of massage treatments with access to the Nordik pools.
