The highly sought-out, renegade Parisian party, simply known as 'The Dinner in White' is set to arrive to the coast of San Diego for round two this Thursday, September 19th. Highly touted for its elegance and exclusivity, this pop-up picnic travels the globe over hosted at highly-recognized, world landmark sites in fifteen carefully selected cities, spanning fifteen countries a year.
The tale of the all white feast began twenty five moons past, with an episode in Paris when a Frenchman by the name of Francois Pasquier asked his long time companions to meet for dinner at a secret location, asking them to wear all white to identify themselves. This has since evolved into an all out, high society, flash picnic mobfest, where guests assemble themselves at strategic locations before they are shuttled off to their secret dining destination.
In its inaugural year, one thousand lucky citizens of San Diego were headquartered off to the lappy shores of Harbor Island for the high profile event, leaving over five thousand guests behind on the face of a lengthy waiting list. Due to the significant increase in demand, over fourteen hundred local guests will be seated at the covert dining operation this year.
Enshrouded in shades of white, the evening diners will descend from their chartered transportation and take to piecing together their achromatic decor making each group setting a truly unique and immaculate, white-frosted curiosity. Guests are welcome to pack traditional picnic style dinners, or can opt for the gourmet spread provided by Chef Keith Lord of Festivities Catering, and Matt Gordon, Chef and ringleader in the Sea & Smoke spotlight.
The evening's highlights include the ceremonial waving of napkins as the kickoff to the dining festivities, followed later with simultaneously lit, handheld sparklers raised in the good name of celebration.
The night of flurried white offers guests the enchanting element of mystery, escapism, and a romantic fairy tale evening meal by candlelight perfectly suited for highly decorated boys and birds. The event is bundled with specialty cocktails, live music, dancing, a best dressed contest, and smiles abound. Guests are certain to feel like snow kings and queens despite the agreeable weather around these parts, and even if the bloomy grass does your lily white boat shoes no favors.
