Womack was joined onstage by eight year old Reagan Imhoff who was making a return appearance on the telethon after she appeared during the 2012 telethon dressed as a butterfly.
Imhoff’s love of dance inspired Womack's performance of "I Hope You Dance" that will be broadcast during “The MDA Show of Strength Telethon” happening on ABC on Sept. 1, 2013 beginning at 9:00 p.m. EST.
Womack talked about her special moment with Imhoff saying "Here was the prettiest little girl in a wheelchair, with other dancers around her, being a butterfly" after their performance together.
Womack added "When you see something like that, it gives you both hope and conviction. I have sung that song for presidents, at the concert for the Nobel Peace Prize, but looking off that stage and seeing Reagan watching us really gave that song a whole new meaning. It was an honor to sing 'I Hope You Dance' for her."
“The MDA Show of Strength Telethon” takes place to bring awareness and raise funds to help support the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Darius Rucker will also be taking part in the telethon and a special Grand Ole Opry performance by Luke Bryan will also be featured during the telethon.
