LBC Seafood Market isn't the typical type of establishment I would write about. It's not a restaurant, but I felt it definitely deserves an article because it offers great seafood at great prices. So, in a way- it belongs in my "Cheap Eats" category.
This place might be one of the best things to happen to this Long Beach neighborhood. This means I no longer have to drive out to our neighboring cities for a 99 Ranch Market. LBC Seafood Market is new in town so my sisters and I go at least twice a month to make sure they feel welcomed… as well as to get our seafood fix… well, mostly to get our seafood fix. There’s nothing fancy about this market, just tanks full of live deliciousness. The staff is super friendly, helpful, and seem pretty knowledgeable.
They have a huge selection of live goodies from the sea. One of my favorites being the Rock Crab for $1.99/pound. One of the more bizarre creatures they have is the Spider Crab for $1.89/pound- I gave this one a shot, but prefer the Rock Crab or the more popular Dungeness Crab. The price for the Dungeness Crab varies, but is usually about $7.99/pound. They also carry Maine Lobster- and the price for this sophisticated beast varies as well, but is usually about $9.99/pound or so.
They also carry a few varieties of fish like Tilapia and Catfish. Live Tilapia is $3.89/pound, and live Catfish is $3.99/pound. They also offer a free fish frying service, which takes about 10 minutes. They can also steam your crab or lobster for an additional charge- depending on the number of pounds.
Other fresh items they offer are Oysters, Shrimp, Squid, and much more.
This is my new go-to spot for live/fresh seafood. So, if you live in Long Beach or find yourself in the neighborhood- definitely stop by and be sure to leave them a nice Yelp review.
