Lazaro Arbos channels Keith Urban with 'Tonight' on 'American Idol'

Lazaro Arbos chose a song by Keith Urban during the last sudden death round on "American Idol" Thursday.

Performing a rendition of Urban's "Tonight, I Want To Cry," Arbos won the judges and the audience with emotion.

"You're a really great singer period. I don't think that was a great song for you tonight because I never felt like you got comfortable with the song," said Urban. "Despite that, you've got this spirit that burns through your vocal so beautifully and I felt that tonight."

In love with his personality, Nicki Minaj applauded Lazaro.

"What I love about you is that you always give us Lazaro. You played it safe but in a good way. You gave us what we love. It's very truthful to you and you feel it. You stay in it," said Minaj.

Agreeing with Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey said Lazaro has a simplicity and a purity.

"I would say that there is a purity and simplicity. That's one of the things that I really love about you," said Carey.

After a brief deliberation, the judges gave Lazaro Arbos a pass to the next round of the competition.

Do you think the judges got it right by passing him through?

"American Idol" airs Wednesday and Thursday nights on FOX.
