Lazaro Arbos blames song choice for poor performance on 'American Idol'

Lazaro Arbos insists that a poor song choice led to his troubled performance on "American Idol" Wednesday.

"On "American Idol" you don't always get to sing the songs you really wanna sing. I just hope to come back next week and show you who Lazaro is," Arbos said after the live show Wednesday.

Hoping for the best, Arbos then thanked his fans for sticking with him.

"Guys I love you very much. Thank you for sticking by me through thick and thin. I'm going to get some rest now good night," said Arbos.

As seen on "American Idol," Arbos performed "In My Life" by The Beatles, but the performance failed to go over well with the judges. That led him to shed a few tears before exiting the stage.

"Honestly, for me, that was your worst performance ever," said an unimpressed Randy Jackson.

While Arbos did not fully explain what went wrong with the song at that point, he admitted that criticism was bothering him prior to the performance.

"It's really hard to stay focused when people out there are constantly judging and bringing you down," Arbos shared Wednesday. "I think about all those people that judge me and I get upset, but then I think about all those people that love me and (then) they don't exist."

Lazaro Arbos will face elimination on the next episode of "American Idol," which airs Thursday night on FOX. He will find out if he made it to the final eight or if his journey has come to an end based on votes cast by viewers.
