"American Idol” contestant Lazaro Arbos may have belted out his last Beatles song. On March 20, the 21-year old singer was slammed by the show’s judges after his off-key performance of Lennon-McCartney classic “In My Life.” You can see the disastrous performance here.
While Randy Jackson told Lazaro it was his “worst performance” of the season, that was just the beginning of the cutting commentary.
“It was out of tune from beginning to end,” Randy told the former ice cream scooper. “Something has definately happened to you. Where did the vocals go? You are just not hitting it on all cylinders.”
A disgusted Nicki Minaj chimed in with a diss towards mentor Jimmy Iovine.
“I need them to stop putting you in the room with Jimmy, I can’t take it anymore,” she said. “Your confidence is different now. You used to come on the stage and were owning it … but now I don’t know … Where is your mind? Something is bothering you and I need you back.”
Lazaro -- who suffers from a speech impediment which causes him to stutter—was visibly shaken after the judges’ critiques. He could hardly look at host Ryan Seacrest, who tried to offer encouragement.
After the show he tweeted, “On American Idol you don't always get to sing the songs you really wanna sing I just hope to come back next week and show you who Lazaro is.”
Will Lazaro Arbos be the next contestant sent home on “American Idol”? He’s currently the top pick on Vote For The Worst, a website devoted to keeping the “worst” singers on the show.
In the Philadelphia area, the “American idol” Top 9 results show airs tonight at 8:00 p.m. on Fox 29.
