LAX shooting in Terminal 3 results in three victims. At least three shots were heard fired and a suspect was said to be "neutralized" and in custody. According to KABC-TV Los Angeles on Nov. 1, a TSA employee was among the victims.
Authorities say the incident at a checkpoint at Terminal 3 began at 9:30 a.m. At least one of the shooting victims is believed to be a TSA employee.
Update: The TSA employee is dead.
Update 2: The shooter was not a TSA employee. He was in fact, Paul Anthony Ciancia, 23, of Los Angeles.
The LAX shooting has resulted in Los Angeles International Airport Terminal 3 being evacuated. It is not yet known how the suspect was "neutralized". Law enforcement has not yet announced a motive. The shooter may have been using an AR-15 assault rifle, which is a very powerful weapon.
At least one victim in the LAX shooting was shot on the tarmac. Condition of the victims is not known. Why the AR-15 was present at the security checkpoint is not yet known either. LAPD and the FBI have taken over the airport as a precaution. There is a massive build up of freeway traffic inthe direction of LAX currently as well.
It would be imprudent to make any speculations at this point. it has also been reported that the display of "heavy weapons" security by law enforcement is being implemented in response at New York area airports.
