An LAX shooting this morning caused an immediate emergency response from police and paramedics. A terminal at the Los Angeles International Airport has been surrounded because of the reported shooting, reports Fox News today.
At approximately 9:30 a.m., pacific time, a gunman, reportedly toting a high-powered rifle, fired shots inside of the airport terminal.
“The Los Angeles Fire Department described the situation as a ‘multi-patient incident,’ and said it was assisting law enforcement at the scene,” reports MSN News.
The shooter is said to have injured at least three individuals. At least one TSA agent was among those wounded. The armed man was also shot by police and is in custody. The extent of the injuries is unknown at this time.
LAX initially reported the incident on their Twitter feed, indicating “a major incident underway at LAX.”
Passengers were quickly evacuated from the terminal.
Robert Perez told the CBS that airport security agents had come through the terminal and yelled fr passengers to take shelter because a man had a gun.
“I heard popping and everybody dropped to the ground,” Perez said.
