A local law firm has made a big donation to the Schenectady County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Tully Rinckey presented a check worth more than $50,000 to the SPCA. The nonprofit organization used the money to buy a new Chevy Tahoe. The SPCA says their old police cruiser was not reliable and had more than 110,000 miles on it.
"It is really inspiring not only for myself, but the volunteers, to have a nice patrol vehicle to go out in. Again, thank you very much. I really appreciate it," said SPCA Chief David Dean.
The money was awarded to the law firm by the state court of appeals 2012 from the case SPCA versus Mills. In that case, the State Department of Education refused to respond to an SPCA Freedom of Information Law request for the names and street addresses of all licensed veterinarians and technicians in Schenectady County.
Tully Rinckey PLLC is a full-service law firm based in Albany, N.Y. that serves individuals, families and businesses throughout New York State’s 14-county Capital Region.
The Schenectady County SPCA is a 100% volunteer organization that is not funded by any government entity or the ASPCA. All donations made on this website go directly to helping animals in the Capital Region.
