Summary: Child abandoned in Times Square leads police to a basement full of kidnapped victims.
In the second part of the season opener, Benson returns back to work after her attack, trying to move past what happened.
There is a small time jump which is going to be good for helping to develop the characters. Obviously things will have changed in the 2 months and I’m sure things will come out of it.
Benson is still struggling with what happened to her. She keeps getting flashes from the time and it’s affecting her job. I would imagine that this is something that’s going to effect her all season.
The second show was definitely not as eventful as the first one, but it was still an interesting story. While after a while some of the stories get told over and over again with slight differences, I try and focus on the new stuff. The show was meant to show Benson’s struggle to return back to work, not the case itself. That was obvious since there really wasn’t a twist in the case plot line.
Here is a recap of the show.
Benson is talking to psychiatrist. She says he got to her, but not in the way he thinks.
2 months later. Benson goes to her apartment. Still in shambles. She remembers being tortured. Brian comes in.
Benson is in a karate class. She goes to psychiatrist. She talks about her visit to her home. She wants to get back to work. She admits she’s afraid the squad will look at her as ‘weak’.
She returns back to work.
A kid runs to a man in a costume. His father comes to take him away when a cop shows up. While talking, the boy’s father goes missing.
Benson remembers a part of the attack. She notices Amaro’s not wearing his ring anymore. Benson asks to be put on the new case.
Benson talks to the cop from Times Square. Amaro talks to the guy that was in the suite. Benson goes to talk to the kid. He says his name is Buddy.
At the squad room, they try and think of how to get more info from Buddy. Buddy is drawing a picture and Benson is asking questions about it. He starts talking about Pa (the man who is missing). He starts talking about Sissy. He tells her where they took the train to once.
Amaro/Benson take buddy for a car ride to try and find the place where Pa takes them.
Finn/Rollins/Amaro try to go in. The neighbor says that Tony lives there with his mom. Amaro breaks in and they go looking around. They find in the basement that there are three cells, with someone in one of them.
Barba is asking what’s going on at the house. Rollins/Amaro catch him up. Finn talks to the neighbor about Tony. Buddy tells Benson that Nancy is the woman that was in the cell. Benson has another flash before going to talk to Barba.
Benson tells Kragan/Barba that Nancy’s real name is Rhonda. Finn brings in Tony.
Amaro/Finn are questioning Tony. He says that he’s gay and wouldn’t rape Rhonda.
Rhonda tells Rollins that Tony’s not Pa. She says that Pa took Ma and Sissy with him. She talks about how Sissy is Pa’s pumpkin pie because that’s when she started living with them.
The squad believes that the missing girl is named Kayla because she went missing 9 years earlier around Thanksgiving. They have no idea who Pa is.
Rollins/Amaro tell Kayla’s parents that she’s still alive but with the Pa. They get some of Kayla’s DNA.
Kragan is talking to Benson about the skeleton they found. They think it might be Kayla. Benson has another flash. He tells her to take a breather. Finn comes in and says they found Kayla who was shop lifting.
They go to ask Kayla about Pa. The parents leave with Barba so Benson and Amaro talk to her. They talk about how Buddy is her son, but he doesn’t know it. She talks about how she was taken. She tells them how Pa raped her.
Amaro/Finn pick up a woman believe to be Ma.
Amaro/Finn are going to interrogate the woman. Rollins doesn’t want to, but Benson wants to. They come to an agreement and agree to go talk to Ma questions. Benson pushes Ma. Kragan comes in and gets Benson. He tells her to go home.
Benson remembers when she beat Lewis. Kayla talks to Benson about Buddy. She asks Benson to let Buddy see Ma.
Benson goes to see Amaro. She has a trade offer. She asks for a chance to get Ma to open up. Kragen agrees but with him in there. Benson shows Ma the picture Buddy drew for her. They get her name. April.
The squad talks about April’s past. They find out where she used to go to school.
Amaro/Finn talk to the old principal and she tells them that April had a teacher named Mike Williams.
Amaro/Finn go to his house and see that he has another family. They go and arrest Mike.
Finn/Amaro interrogate Mike while Rollins talks with his wife. Rollins makes his wife realizes he’s been lying about his mother. Mike says he was saving the girls. He says Kayla made it so he didn’t take anyone else.
Benson/Barba argue over April. They think she should get help but Mike gets arrested.
Benson is in a car with Kayla/Buddy getting ready for the press that is waiting for them. Benson encourages and says that she can be a good mother to him.
