Show opens with Finn/Amaro working undercover at a gay bar with Benson/Rollins watching them. Cut to a man leaving with his kids to Connecticut. That man goes to the gay bar. He walks up to someone at the bar. They go to a hotel room. He says that the 1st man is straight. Cut to the man tied up and gagged on his bed.
Benson/Rollins investigate the crime scene.
Group talk through the case. The other four victims are closeted gay men. Amaro gets call that Charlie Murphy, the victim, is awake.
Amaro/Benson go to hospital. He tells his wife Melissa that he got mugged. He says he won’t testify. He says he doesn’t remember because he’s been drinking a lot. He says his firm is not ‘gay-friendly’ so that he has to try and suppress his feelings. He won’t help because he doesn’t want to lose his family.
Rollins/Finn go to pot selling place. Someone used Charlie’s credit card to buy a water pipe. They bring him down to the station to get a sketch.
Amaro/Benson ask the bartender about the sketch. A man suddenly leaves and Amaro alerts Finn/Rollins. They confront him. He says he saw the guy in the sketch. He says he tried to pick him up and he didn’t go. He tells him what direction they went.
Rollins/Benson go to hotel room. They get in and find that he’s already been assaulted. He’s dead.
Benson/Amaro meet with Harry, the new victim’s, wife. She says she knew he was gay. She says it didn’t bother her if he was with other men but not women.
Benson/Amaro meet with Charlie and tell him about new victim. She says that the news will bring his name out because of the new case. Charlie talks about him and that his name is Dirk. He says he recognized him from a strip club.
Finn/Rollins go to the strip club. The owner says the guys real name is Jeremy Jones. He says he no longer works there. Owner gives them his address.
Finn/Rollins stomp into the apartment and arrest Jeremy and his friend, Mason.
Finn/Rollins interrogate Jeremy. He asks for a lawyer right way. Benson/Barba go over case. She says they have no physical evidence.
Barba meets with Charlie, but he’s hesitant. Amaro makes a comment about him kissing Jeremy. Benson confronts Amaro about his comment.
The line-up. He points out #3 as the guy who attacked him. Barba confronts the defense lawyer, Efran (Vardolas). Barba says to use Mason’s parole against him to turn on Jeremy.
Amaro/Benson interrogate Mason. He says that Jeremy gets money by sleeping with women. They prove to him that he was with Charlie not a woman. Efran bursts into the door and says that she’s representing Mason to. She says that Mason can’t talk to them about what he and Jeremy talked about because they are married.
Barba talks to Benson/Amaro about their next move, to find out if marriage is real.
They argue whether or not marriage is to be used in New York because htye got married in Masschusetts. She shows the marriage liscence. Judge rules spousal privelages applies.
Barba meets with Jeremy and Efran. She says his three witnesses don’t mean anything.
Barba tells Benson/Finn he’s dropping the case. Benson says that if they can use what Mason said to investigate. They try and find some of his female victims.
Finn/Rollins go back to the strip club. Owner says that he’s gay and wouldn’t sleep with a woman even for money.
Benson goes to meet with Barba, she says there isn’t a victim, which Barba is happy about. He thinks that it’s because he only goes after gay men. He says that he can use it for a hate crime.
Opening arguments.
Charlie is on the stand. Another victim on the stand. He says that Jeremy approached him. 3rd victim. He says that they start to have sex in hotel. Each of the 3 victims talk about how Jeremy assaulted them.
Outside the court room, Melissa argues with Charlie, she is angry with him holding her being gay from her.
Jeremy is on the stand being interrogated by Efran. He says the victims tried to pick him up and that they are lying because they are closet gays. He says that he took things from them because they wanted to give him stuff because he’s unemployed.
Barba crosses Jeremy. He asks about his relationship with Mason. He says he’s nice with Mason and hard with the guys he picks up. He says he has a problem with them hiding that they are gay. He asks him what the victims ask from him. He says it doesn’t matter and his anger comes out. Efran requests to speak in the chambers.
In chambers. She says that he didn’t prove a point that he didn’t prove hate crime because he only attacked closeted gays. The judge tells Barba off the record that if he doesn’t drop the hate crime charge, she will.
Barba tells Amaro/Benson about the drop. The jury is still deadlocked about the verdict. She says that that he was guilty of unlawful containment, the rest were considered mistrial.
Barba/Benson/Amaro try to convince Charlie to testify again but he won’t because it’s effecting his family. Barba says let’s go after Jeremy for murder. Amaro figures out that Harry bought his wife something for anniversary and think that Jeremy stole it from him.
Amaro/Benson speak with Mason asking if he got a platinum bracelet. Amaro shows him the engravement on the on the bracelet. Mason recognizes the engraved message. Amaro has Harry’s wife come in to speak with him. Mason tells them where the bracelet is.
Benson/Finn go the court for Jeremy’s sentence hearing. They arrest Jeremy for murder. He snaps on Mason, then at Efran before he’s taken away.
