Guest Stars: Jane Kaczmarek (TV's 'Malcolm in the Middle')
Opens with a woman saying good-bye to her son. When the babysitter shows up. She receives a call from her boyfriend, Tommy, about location of their date, apparently with her ex-boyfriend. In the car, she calls him and get his voicemail. Police get a call about a couple arguing. 2nd call where there is gun shots. Police show up at house. They find that woman over Tommy’s body. She says that she found him but the office arrest her.
Benson comes in and hears about Jessie (girl who was arrested). Amaro says that her testimony was sketchy because she was drunk. Finn says that her boyfriend was killed.
Meet with Cutter. He says that he was unarmed and she brought gun. He asks about the rape case for Jessie. Another DA is requesting their files (her attorney was accused of raping Jessie)
4 months earlier. Benson/Amaro at hospital meeting Jessie.
Finn/Rollins go to bar where she was. Bartender says she was on her cell phone before she left.
Amaro/Benson talk to Jessie. She says she doesn’t remember. She says she didn’t want to them to tell Tommy, her boyfriend. She says she went out with her girlfriends and she left alone. She said a town car pulled up and made her get into the car. She says the driver was black and attacked her. She says the gun was like a machine gun. Benson asks who she called when her boyfriend shows up. He creates a scene rushing her out.
Present day. Benson says that she knows Jessie was afraid of Tommy. He has a record of being violent. Says the call was tracked to Michael Provo.
4 months earlier. Finn/Rollins meet with Michael, he’s a PI for a DA office. He says he knows Jessie and saw her last night. He admits that he was having an affair with Jessie. Finn asks if he hit her. He denies it. He says that’s what Tommy does. He says he dropped her off at the bar and is forthcoming.
Benson/Amaro are with Jessie. She admits her relationship. She admits that the black man is not real. Says she didn’t want Tommy to know about Michael. Amaro asks if she was raped. She says yes by Michael.
Present day. Benson says that Jessie had said that she didn’t want to have sex when she met with Michael and he forced himself on her. She adds that if that Jessie told her that if Tommy found that he would kill her.
Cutter asks if Tommy could have assaulted her but Amaro says that Tommy was with another woman in another city have sex. Cutter suggests that Jessie beat herself up to cover affair with Michael.
4 months earlier. Benson/Amaro meet with Jessie. She says that she’s been sober 7 months but slipped that one night. Says that she’s been with Michael since the Spring, says that Michael is Tommy’s friend. Says that Michael never rough before. Amaro asks if she said no. She says that he gets a call from his wife, and she admits that she didn’t know that Michael was married and wanted to go home. He got mad and raped her. Said that if she told anyone, she would regret it.
Finn says that Michael’s not a cop, he works for the police station. Says that there was a similar victim but was deported.
Finn/Rollins meet with Michael. He admits that his wife called and Jessie freaked out. Finn brings up Consquela. Says that she cried rape because she didn’t want to get deported. A man for the DA office comes and takes Michael away for a job.
Present day. They discovered that he was a rat since 2008 (year before Consquela case). Cutter gets a text saying she’s arraigning Jessie in 2 hours.
Group meeting with the DA before her court. She tells him to have her drop her case.
Arraignment. Bail was set at $200,000. Cutter tells Benson to let her go, but she says that Jessie is their victim.
Amaro/Benson meets with Jessie. She asks if her meeting with Tommy had anything to do with her rape case. She says that she walked in and found him dead. She says while on the phone with 911, cops show up. Benson thinks that this might be suspicious. She says she hasn’t drank since the night she was raped.
Benson tells Amaro to check on the timeline of her phone call, but he’s not sure on it. Benson gets subpoenaed for Jessie’s case.
Court. DA got Benson to admit that Tommy wasn’t a danger to her and that he cared for her.
At the station. Rollins goes over the timeline of Jessie’s calls. Says at 7:50 he didn’t pick up. 7:55 neighbor calls in disturbance. 7:58 woman driving by calls about gun shots. 8:02 Jessie calls in about finding Tommy. The man at the gun shop said that Jessie stole the gun, but Finn says that the gun was stated stolen until after cops talked to him.
Rollins/Finn talk to gun owner. He says that she had a certain ‘air’ about her. He says that he slept with her and that she stole it from him. He says he didn’t notice she stole it. Finn brings him in.
Cutter meets with the gun owner. Tells him that they won’t press charges if he tells the truth. Owner says that he never met her. Says Michael Provo got the gun for ‘a friend’ for a favor. He said Provo told him to lie about the gun.
Benson meet switch Cutter. The neighbor is an alcoholic. Benson suggests that Michael held a gun to Tommy’s head and demanded that he called Jessie. When she was on her way, he set up the two calls so that the police arrive just after she does. Cutter says this is his case now and he wants to uncover the conspiracy.
Finn/Rollins arrest Michael.
DA James meets with Cutter. She says Michael didn’t frame Jessie for murder. He says that of course she won’t admit it because they would have to open every case he was involved in. She warns him that she will be going to war if he challenges the integrity of her DA.
Benson/Amaro tells Jessie that they have proof that she didn’t kill Tommy, but they can’t get her out because the Suffolk county won’t drop the charges.
Prelimanry hearing. Cutter wants to go to trial with rape and conspiracy as one trial. DA James requests to address court. They approach the bench. She asks judge to dismiss charges on Michael. Cutter is on a time period because he has to get verdict before Suffolk county.
The opening arguments from the DA James and Cutter.
DA James questions Michael. He sys he didn’t kill Tommy and that he had an affair with Jessie. He lied and said that she asked him for a gun.
Cutter questions Jessie. She says that he said that he had connections and could set anyone he wanted anytime.
Cutter learns that the 2nd caller is testifying the next day for the Suffolk trial. Cutter tells Rollins/Amaro to find out what Michael has on the caller.
Amaro/Benson meet with the caller, Carol. She tells them that she was told not to talk to the cops by DA James. Amaro asks what she was doing in the area. She says that she was in the area going to anniversary meeting with her husband. Before they can question further, her husband closes the door.
Finn/Rollins says they haven’t found anything. Rollins thinks that he connection is the husband. The informant who set him up is Michael Provo.
Amaro/ Benson meet with Eddie, Carol’s husband. He says that Michael stabbed him in the back. He says that he let his wife testify he says that he didn’t want her to.
Amaro/Benson meet with Carol. She says that she’s not supposed to talk to them. Amaro says that she could go to jail for perjury. Amaro says that Michael got Eddie to a lesser charge. Amaro says that Michael was having a relationship with Carol while Eddie was in jail. She admits to it, but she doesn’t want Eddie to know.
DA James meet with Michael and police. Rollins says that the gun owner didn’t sell Jessie the gun. Benson leads the group to 1st caller, Larry Banks. Says it was a fake because Michael got him out of two DUIs. Benson leads group to Carol. Rollins says that she will testify that Michael blackmailed her. Michael tells DA James that they are framing him. DA James walks with Cutter and says she didn’t know. Cutter says that once he gets Michael convicted, all of DA James’s cases will be under microscope. She makes an agreement that if Cutter drops charges on Michael then she will drop charges on Jessie. Then she will charge Michael with murder and create her own investigation in Suffolk.
Jessie gets out of jail. Benson tells Jessie that they had to withdraw those charges in order to get Jessie out right away.
