LAUSD Plans to cut the school year by 6 days.

United Teachers Los Angeles UTLA, are circulating information to parents regarding LAUSD and their plan to to cut the school year by six days due to budget cuts.  According to UTLA, the District will cut 6 days at the end of the 2011-12 school year, for every LAUSD school.  This is an action being taken directly by LAUSD .

Upset parents and UTLA are saying that, "LAUSD is balancing their budget on the backs of students".  This cut in school days is on top of the 12 days that have been cut over the previous 2 years.

It's not to late to reverse this decision. Concerned Parents and Citizens can call their local School Board member and demand that LAUSD make children a priority, and to fully fund the school year.

If this concerns you as a parent, and you want to help do something about the their choice to cut the days, you can find a complete list of board members below.
