LAUSD couldn’t have picked a worst elementary Math book series

Teaching decimals.

First you start the lesson with place value: tenths, hundreds, and thousands. Then there are 5 or 6 more skills relating to beginning decimals on the two page of follow up work for the students..

In order to do a proper job, the teachers must explain the 5 or 6 different types of decimal problems during the lesson. The students need to practice one skill at a time. But, not with this series.

There were two or three problems with each decimal skill. That’s it.

Once again, LAUSD is not preparing students with a foundation for the next grades or for life. They don’t care about the students only about their tests scores.

The dumbing down of another generation
