Lauren is making her mark in society

If you haven’t had the opportunity to meet Lauren Slaught yet, it’s about time you do!

Many of us know her by the work that she does in our community whether it be at Metro State College where she is a student or the number of volunteer projects she is involved in.

Lauren is an accomplished woman already at the youthful age of just 20. Lauren played several important roles in the development of the inaugural charity "Cause Calendar" benefit calendar and assisted in getting it to the market with her remarkable modeling and sales skills and award winning smile. She had never modeled in her life (or so she claimed - lol), but she showed up at the Medicine Horse Ranch just outside of Boulder on a cold fall morning she brought with her a smile more radiant than the early sunrise. Better still, despite the dust, cold and ever changing light conditions, she was eager to start getting ready for her shoot.

Her work went far beyond the photo shoot, as she was also key in the sales process of the initial run of the calendars too. The calendar project is only one of the many projects Lauren has volunteered for as well.

Lauren has a good friend that was conceived by an egg donor. This inspired Lauren to become an egg donor for women who cannot have babies on their own, something many mothers out there are eternally grateful for!

Lauren’s easy and stunning smile comes not simply from her attributes on the outside, but her heart, soul and intellect and what she puts into her body. She maintains a strictly healthy diet, nothing bad including drugs and alcohol of course, and it shows.

More importantly, she is an exceptional scholar maintaining a 4.0 in college and holding her spot on the Dean's List at Metro State College in Denver. Her eye is on a degree that will allow her to chase her dream of becoming an elementary school teacher after graduation.

Teaching is another gift Lauren has and she utilizes it all she can. Lauren has helped the Jefferson County Public Schools with Spanish-only speaking children and has promised not to leave them behind. Lauren has dedicated early mornings and evenings to help these students understand their lessons and help them further their education and assimilation. With a big heart for teaching, she has helps these students succeed and advance to the next grade level with flying colors. Lauren also makes it a rule to keep in touch with these students throughout the years that she has volunteered her time with them. Her favorite subjects in college are English and Psychology.

Ms. Slaught comes from a family of five including her parents. She has an older brother and younger sister. Her family is understandably proud of her accomplishments and where she is heading with her plans and goals.

Lauren greets every day with a naturally positive outlook. When faced with a challenge she overcomes it by tackling it and getting through it – all with that smile of hers.

Along with her other aspirations, Lauren decided she wanted to be a gymnast at a very early age. As dreams do, her dreams of performing in front of the judges for the Olympics had to change a bit and now you can find Lauren as a different kind of athlete on the Colorado slopes with her snowboard.

At the time of this interview with Lauren she has just learned that her donor egg has been accepted for a young couple that was unable to get pregnant on their own – something she should be and is very proud of – she is really making a difference.

Lauren has come a long way, and accomplished a great deal, in a short time. She sets goals for herself and finds ways achieve each one of them.

She is a person that once you get to know her, you will be the better for it. The world already is better for it too.
