Lauren Conrad's low-carb wedding weight loss diet: Kim Kardashian did ketogenic

TV star Lauren Conrad said her wedding weight-loss plan includes a portion-controlled low-carb diet, running on the beach and hiking.

But don't expect Lauren to run herself ragged trying to slim down to a size zero for her fall wedding to law student William Tell.

“I’m not a huge fan of the gym, to be honest,” Conrad told People. “I just like getting out, like going on a hike, going on the kayak, and going for a run on the beach."

Lauren, who previously said she follows a low-carb diet, refuses to starve herself for the big day because she loves to eat. “I really love food," she said. "I’m not good at dieting. I try to make smart choices but just eat a little bit less."

Conrad told Cosmopolitan her usual diet consists of lots of vegetables, organic salad greens and lean protein like turkey, tuna, and beans. Her exercise program includes an hour of weight-training and treadmill workouts twice a week. On alternate days, the formers "Hills" star hikes for 45 minutes in L.A.'s Runyon Canyon.

Ketogenic Diet Spurred Kim Kardashian's 56-Lb Weight Loss

Conrad's relaxed wedding diet plan is the polar opposite of the strict weight loss regimens followed by recent newlyweds Kim Kardashian and Jessica Simpson.

Kardashian followed a super-strict low-carb ketogenic-style Atkins diet that limited her daily carb intake to less than 60 grams. Kim credited her ketogenic regime for her stunning 56-pound weight loss in six months. Kim also work outed almost every day, combining intense cardio exercise with strength-training moves and lots of squats.

Similarly, Jessica Simpson credited her 70-pound weight loss to a low-carb Weight Watchers diet that featured high-quality proteins like salmon and chicken and plenty of fresh vegetables and salads.

For exercise, the mom of two walked six miles every day and did yoga. Simpson also worked out at the gym for 45 minutes, four days a week, with her longtime trainer Harley Pasternak. In the last two weeks leading up to her wedding, Simpson switched to a vegan diet, which she supplemented with vitamin B-12 shots.

All the hard work paid off for both Kardashian and Simpson, who were dazzling brides. Somehow, we're sure Lauren Conrad will make an equally beautiful bride, even with her relatively laid-back regime.
