Faking flawless skin takes practice, the right tools and a master instructor. Enter Laura Mercier global makeup artist Juan Belmonte, who conducted the Get Flawless Event at Neiman Marcus Fort Worth last week. This master class was designed to help attendees perfect makeup application and technique with premium Laura Mercier products and tools.

Attendees first cleansed with a Laura Mercier foam cleanser to reveal a fresh face and palette for makeup artists. Belmonte walked the class through each step and product, demonstrating his skills on lucky class members. Other makeup artists assisted students with application and color selection. Belmonte stressed that the Laura Mercier philosophy adheres to the idea of wearing less makeup, and only applying foundation where it is needed in order to achieve a natural look with appropriate coverage. Students prepped their skin with Laura Mercier moisturizer and primer before applying foundation.

According to Belmonte, Laura Mercier was the first brand to bring a primer to market. Silicone-based primers look great in photos, but are not ideal for everyday use. Silicone is plastic, and does not allow the skin to breathe, thereby potentially clogging pores. Laura Mercier’s primer is water-based, giving skin a more natural but functional base for foundation.

Belmonte also introduced Laura Mercier’s signature tightline eyeliner technique that involves applying liner underneath the root of the upper lash line. The effect is dramatic; and the brand has a special tightline flat brush to achieve the look. Makeup artists also assisted students with eye shadow and lip color application.

As a gift for attending the event, students received a complimentary Laura Mercier Luxe Travel Brush Collection set. The case includes several brushes used in the class, including the Secret Camouflage brush and the flat liner brush for the tightline application. Overall, students walked away with a flawless Laura Mercier look and the tools to recreate it at home.
