Laughter releases endorphines that can fight those winter blues. Lucky for you, you live in the city hosting the nation’s first laughter festival! Grand Rapids LaughFest will take place March 10th-20th in a variety of locations in the Grand Rapids area.
There are over 100 free events including Laughter Yoga, Last Minute Improv, and Stand Up Comedy that can satisfy your funny bone without compromising your budget. Plus, there’s a little something for everyone with Baby Loves Disco for the kids, Pet Look-A-Like contests for the animal fanatics, mini-golf for the athletes, and the musical Rocky Horror Show for the slightly edgy.
If you want to go all out, I suggest An Evening with Betty White! On March 15th The Golden Girl herself will be gracing Grand Rapids with her wit. General tickets are completely sold out, but dinner tickets are still available. For $250 ($100 tax deductible) you can eat a delicious meal, enjoy Betty’s company, and support the Grand Rapids Gilda Club. Other featured comedians include: Bill Cosby, Kevin Hart, Margaret Cho, Mike Birbiglia, Bob & Tom, and several more comedians from the Midwest and Grand Rapids area. With prices that resemble that of the 3D children’s movie, there is really no excuse not to attend one of these promising shows while supporting local talent and businesses.
Tickets are available at Ticketmaster online, the VanAndel Arena Box Office, or the DeVos Place Box Office. For more information, check out the LaughFest’s website at www.laughfestgr.org.
