Thursday night, Buddy Brew Coffee and The Library Coffeehouse hosted the first annual Barista Jam + Latte Art Throwdown at the Oxford Exchange. The event gave local (and not-so-local--some traveled all the way from Orlando!) baristas the chance to show off their mad art skillz and allowed the public to see just how much local talent there was.
It was a great turnout. Before the competition, guests were treated to delicious pork sandwiches provided by the Oxford Exchange, and they could sample from three different coffee-infused beers. You read that correctly. Even the beer tasted like coffee (and it was amazing). The competition itself was fierce--the competitors had some serious talent--and in the end, three winners were chosen:
- 1st place: Mandy Spirito, Buddy Brew Coffee
- 2nd place: Josh Bonnano, Buddy Brew Coffee
- 3rd place: Jason Waits, Kahwa North, St. Pete
