Latino talent at the X Games in Los Angeles

In combination with Navy week, the 17th edition of the X Games will be held in Los Angeles July 28, 29, 30 and 31 at L.A. Live/Staples Center/Nokia Theater.

Several Latinos are participating in these games in different disciplines such as pro skaters and BMX riders.

One of them is Chad Ortiz, 17, from the Chicago area. He turned professional skater at 13 and earned his first pro win a year later at the AST Dew tour in Salt Lake City.

Another pro skater is Paul Rodriguez (yes, son of comedian Paul Rodriguez). He turned pro at 17.

Venezuela born Daniel Dhers a professional BMX pro rider has won gold medals at eh X Games in 2007, 2008, and 2010. At age eleven he started riding bikes but it was until he moved to Argentina at age 16 that he started riding in parks.

Born in San Francisco and at age 46 Steve Caballero is one of the oldest skaters participating in this edition of the X Games. He turned pro in 1980. He is credited to have invented the Caballerial in the 10ft keyhole pool at Winchester Skatepark in Cambel, California.
