To my wife and I there is something magical that happens on Saturday mornings throughout the school year at the National Cathedral School between 10 a.m. and noon. There 125 tutors and their students meet for a couple of hours to complete homework, read books, or perform academic exercises contained in workbooks provided to the children at for free as a service of the Latino Student Fund.
The Latino Student Fund has been providing tutoring to area school children since 1998. Michele and I are beginning our 6th year and we would not miss it for the world. Although we are assisting young scholars the rewards come back to us in the smiles, laughs, and gratitude for the work we are doing. If you have every gone out of your way to help someone in need you know exactly what I am talking about.
The organization is actively seeking tutors. It takes five minutes to sign up which you can do from this webpage. Tomorrow is the orientation session and it never too late to enroll. You can even have breakfast beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Hope to see you there!
