On Saturday, September 7, 2013, the first day of the Tracy Bean Festival in California was kicked off. Latin Essence took to the main stage at the festival on Saturday night for a two-hour set. The band has performed at the festival numerous times, and this year, the festival celebrated its twenty-seventh anniversary. The band played for a large audience that was eager to listen to some great live music. A fun time was had by all in attendance.
Latin Essence consists of the following members: Gil Gomez (bass guitar, vocals, band leader), John Amezquita (lead and rhythm guitar, song writer), Phillip “Junior” Valdespino (drums), M.C. Lawrence Souza (lead vocals), Javier Carranza (timbales, percussion, lead vocals) Jeff Tucson (keyboards, saxophone, vocals), Anthony Conlon (keyboard, trombone, vocals), Gabe Eller (trumpets), and Anthony Torres (congas, bongos). The musicians are great at what they do, and it is obvious that they love performing as well.
The band performed fan favorites like Carlos Santana’s “Smooth” and The Gap Band’s “Early in the Morning”. The band incited the fans to dance throughout the performance. Latin Essence always knows how to get the party started with their music. Latin Essence plays many gigs throughout the year, and locals in the area always make their way to watch their performances. Fans in Tracy are hoping to see the band again at next year’s Bean Festival, and to catch other performances until then.
