As the October release dates of both NBA 2K15 and NBA Live 15 quickly approach, new information concerning each game has begun to surface.
Shaq Auditions for Pharrell
With the recent news that Grammy award winning artist and producer Pharrell Williams had scored the title of NBA 2K15 music curator, speculation on the game’s soundtrack quickly began. The soundtrack is being called the largest and most creatively diverse in the 2K franchise history and the track listing will soon be released this summer. However, at least one platinum-selling artist has offered his audition to appear on the game’s soundtrack.
Shaquille O’Neal recently released his short audition video featuring a short rap for Williams expressing his desire to appear on the soundtrack.
While Shaq is a big jokester and the short rap was playful and fun, many people forget that Shaq did his thing on the mic during the ‘90s, releasing four studio albums. His first album Shaq Diesel was certified platinum and he would release three other albums in the decade. If I had my way, this track by the “Big Aristotle” would be a staple on any video game soundtrack.
Improvements to NBA Live 15
In comparison with the more popular NBA 2K14, NBA Live 14 was found to be rather lackluster and overall garnered generally unfavorable reviews. With over 500 gameplay improvements, the makers of the NBA Live series are hoping for a rebound with the upcoming version of the franchise. Sean O’Brien, executive producer of NBA Live 15, even wrote an open letter to NBA Live fans admitting the shortcomings in NBA Live 14 and promising vast improvements in NBA Live 15. O’Brien has also given a series of interviews to Michael Straw of the Fansided website discussing a number of topics concerning the upcoming release of NBA Live 15 in hopes of regaining some of the games’ lost fanfare.
