The conservative-leaning news portal The Daily Caller (TheDC) published a report on Jan.31, 2013 accusing U.S. Senator Robert "Bob" Menendez (D-NJ) of not only participating in sexual encounters with Caribbean prostitutes, but has a particular penchant for "the youngest and newest" girls added to any given pimp's stable.
What TheDC refered to as "a little-noticed email published online Wednesday by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW)," was alleged to be written by a then-underage prostitute from the Dominican Republic.
The e-mail in question (seen here) accuses the New Jersey Democrat of engaging in sex-for-pay with her in a series of alcohol-fueled orgies reportedly organized by longtime Menendez friend, political supporter and campaign donor Miami-based ophthalmologist Dr. Salomon Melgen.
Originally written in Spanish, TheDC reports its translation also stated:
"In the beginning he [Menendez] seemed so serious, because he never spoke to anyone, but he is just like the others and has just about the same tastes as the doctor, very refined.
I think they were taking us more often to get us checked [medically] because of him."
TheDC has decided not to publish the woman's name "because she may have been a minor when her alleged sexual encounters with Menendez occurred."
The portal also posted that the "four different Spanish speakers who reviewed TheDC’s translation of her letter all said her Spanish writing indicated someone who was very young and unsophisticated."
According to 18 U.S.C. § 1591 (2008), it is a violation of U.S. federal law to engage with prostitutes, both foreign and domestic, under the age of 18-years-old.
Those found guilty face a prison sentence of 10 years to life.
