Catechism classes have never been as much fun as when they are led by Sister. The international hit comedy Late Nite Catechism is coming to the Charline McCombs Empire Theatre in February and tickets are now on sale.
Late Nite Catechism is an interactive play about a fictitious Catholic nun where the nun is the only person on stage and the audience becomes the class. She takes the audience back to their youth as the irrepressible Sister teaches an adult catechism class. Throughout the play she goes through many mood swings; from a nice instructor who rewards her students with various prizes to an authoritative drill sergeant. Because of its lighthearted humor it has been known to appeal to Catholics and non-Catholics alike.
Written by Vicki Quade and Maripat Donovan in 1993 Late Nite Catechism was nominated for an Outer Critics Circle Award in New York City. It has become the longest continuously running show in Chicago history.
