Late comeback isn't enough as TCU falls to Texas

This was likely the matchup many fans in Fort Worth were anticipating: TCU playing the Texas Longhorns again as a conference opponent.

But even a down year for the Longhorns wasn't enough for the Frogs to overcome. With Ioannis Popapetrou scoring 15 as one of three Horns with at least a dozen points, Texas took care of TCU 68-59 at Daniel Meyer Coliseum.

Garlon Green led the Horned Frogs with 15, but TCU could not recover from a poor first half defensively, allowing 59 pecent shooting.

Never trailing in the game, the Longhorns led by seven points just seven minutes into the game and pushed that to a 10-point lead by the 9:43 mark of the first half.

Up 33-25 at halftime, Texas took its biggest lead at 12 less than two minutes into the first half.

TCU did surge back to tie the game at 42 with 8:42 to play. But then seven points from Conner Lammert helped the Horns quickly build an eight point lead back. TCU was never able to get closer than five after that.

Texas continued to show its resurgence since the return of Myck Kabongo. Kabongo finished with seven assists on the game in addition to 12 points.

Meanwhile, the Frogs will have off until Saturday, when they travel to Allen Fieldhouse to face a Kansas team looking to avenge TCU's upset of a couple weeks ago.
