When it comes down to the end of the year, we ask ourselves; how did the year go by so fast? Indeed the year 2013 is just about over and this is the last weekend of the year. Since it is the last weekend of 2013, why not see some live jazz. On Saturday, December 28, 2013, Hot Latin Jazz with Bob DeSena will appear for a 7:30pm show at Pips on La Brea. You can catch the 8pm show featuring Dwight Trible with Justo Almario & Miguel Awood-Ferguson at World Stage in Los Angeles.

At Catalina Bar & Grill in Los Angeles, Jane Monheit has an 8pm show. The Blue Whale in downtown Los Angeles has the Kirk Whalum Group II at 9pm. The last show of the evening is Perlene Thurston at 10pm at the Oyster House in Studio City.

On Sunday, December 29, 2013 it will be Champagne Jazz Brunch with Cal Bennett at 11 am at Pips on La Brea. John Stephens & the Big Band have a 4pm show at the Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles. Vitello's in Studio City features Frank Stallone's Pre-New Years Party at 8pm and rounding out the weekend is Tatianna Parra & Vardan Ovsepian at the Blue Whale in Los Angeles at 9pm. If you want to find out about other jazz events in SoCal, you can visit http://www.lajazz.com. If you are going out this weekend, enjoy yourself and be safe. If God is willing, I want to wish everyone a Happy, safe, healthy, prosperous and peace filled New Year.
