It's the end of the season and you weren't planning on having a party... that is until your beloved sports fan suggests inviting the gang over for the big game. Yikes! Here are some quick and easy ideas to throw together a fun and festive gathering for Super Bowl XLIV.

Invitations - When you're short on time, opt for a fun and casual invitation like one you'll find on Evite.com. This is a free party planning site that provides a variety of style and themed online invitations, while supplying great features such as attendance tracking and best of all, instant delivery.

The Setting - Start by arranging furniture to maximize viewing of the TV. If necessary, toss large pillows on the floor for additional seating. Decorate the space in team colors representing the Conference Champions, black & gold (Saints) and blue & white (Colts). Add a variety of football themed decorations available at your local party supplier, try Party City in Lone Tree. Also check out the $dollar$ section at Target for fun party accessories. One great thing about a last minute party is that seasonal and themed items may be at a discount. But get there soon, because your options may also be limited.

Food & Drink - Typical game day fare generally includes: chips & guacamole, hot wings, and pizza. Find great tried and true recipes on allrecipes.com. However, if your more of the delivery type, check out Papa John's (official sponsor of Super Bowl XLIV). They are offering their Papa John's 1st & $10 special. All large pizzas, including specialty pizzas, are just $10 each, with any toppings.

For a fun twist on pizza, try a do-it-yourself pizza bar. Purchase ready-made pizza dough at Pasquini's Pizzeria . For just $5, you get a generous amount of dough - - enough to make about 4 individual pizzas. Set up a variety of toppings. Keep your oven warm and you can bake 2-3 pizzas at a time in as little as 10 minutes. This is especially popular if you have kids at the party.

For beverages, check out Davidson's Liquors in Highlands Ranch. They have a display set up just for the Super Bowl with brews representing the teams home towns. Variety is key, so stock up.

Fun & Games: A football pool is a fun way to keep guests involved in the game. On a large poster board create a 10 x 10 grid and assign numbers 0-9 along one side and bottom. Friends and family can then "buy" these squares and cheer on their team. Super Bowl trivia is another fun activity to keep guests in the football spirit. Super Bowl parties are really about two things: the food and the game. If you can get these covered, you're sure to be a success . And remember, with the help of a few local resources you can throw together a party in no time.

On your mark, get set, GO!
