Despite the winter storms and cold, there are plenty of ways to warm the heart of your Valentine this year, starting tonight, Thursday the 13th, with a pop-up dinner at The Boston Winery from two talented young chefs from Whisk, creators of amazing pop-up meals that deliver the "wow" diners are seeking.
They're actually doing two pop-ups for Valentine's Day but the one tomorrow is, alas, sold out. However, this could be your lucky "13" pre-Valentine's Day pop-up. The full details of the menu are not available but it's six courses ($75 pp) or $110 with a wine pairing.
One of the dishes will be Cocoa Pasta Tortelloni, Beef marrow and Cherries, steak marmalade in Kale (yes that's all one dish) and for dessert, there will be at least one chocolate choice.
Celebrating the day before allows you a second celebration on the14th - so check on Dot 2 Dot Cafe in Dorchester where a special three course menu, one seating, starts at 6:30 p.m. with dishes that include a vegan option for each course. Main course choices include
Chicken with sherry vinegar, tarragon and crème fraiche served with potato gratin and roasted asparagus
Salmon fillet in filo pastry with garlic, ginger, cilantro and raisins, served with herbed polenta and baby spinach
Sweet chili tofu served on top of a roasted garlic and quinoa ‘pancake’ with stir fried kale [vegan].
Boston's own Odyssey cruise ship is offering a way to get out on the harbor with your Valentine and enjoy dinner and dancing at sea this year. Think complimentary roses, Champagne toast and live entertainment for $63 per person.
