Children in Miami head back to school on Monday, August 18th leaving just enough time for one last "hurrah". If you're planning a final staycation or day-trip to a South Florida attraction, check out this list of family-friendly fun. Plus, a few of locations are running special deals.
Even though summer is coming to a close, the warm weather isn't. Lion Country Safari allows you to view all of the animals without leaving the comfort of your air conditioned vehicle. Located two hours from Miami, the drive is short enough for a day trip but long enough so that the kids feel like they're on a road trip. Check Living Social on Friday for a special deal that's going to a select few and opens up to the general public on Monday. Also, teachers can check back in September for Lion Country Safari's special teacher and family rate. Visit www.lioncountrysafari.com for information and coupons.
Nothing says summer like a good water park. Since Atlantis was converted into a shopping center long before we had children, a trip to West Palm Beach's Rapids Water Park is required to introduce kids to the water park fun. Only an hour and twenty minutes from Miami, Rapids is offering a deal to get you back later in the year. If you purchase a full-price ticket in August, you'll receive a ticket to come back and visit again for free. Visit www.rapidswaterpark.com for information.
If you spent too much time on the road this summer, consider a location a little closer to home. Jungle Island has a new renovated beach and floating aqua park for families to check out. Lounge on Biscayne Bay or check out the aqua park featuring an action tower, trampoline, bridge, cliff, high jump and catapult. Park admission includes access to the beach but you will have to p ay a nominal fee for the water play activities.
And, if you are planning for Labor Day weekend, Jungle Island will be offering $10 admission, aqua park, lemur encounters, jungle tours, family meals and more. Visit www.jungleisland.com for more information.
Enjoy the last weekend before school begins!
