Last minute Christmas deals on Android smartphones and Apple tech toys

With Christmas barely a few days away, the holiday shopping season reaches a fever pitch. Thankfully, there's still a few last minute deals on Android smartphones and Apple products available for the savvy Columbus technology shopper.

Free Android smartphones from Verizon Wireless

Verizon recently cut the price even further on two budget smartphones running Android 2.3 -- codenamed Gingerbread. And Big Red goes Santa for this Christmas by offering both the LG Enlighten and Samsung Illusion for free! Of course, "free" also requires a 2-year contract with an associated data plan.

Both the LG Enlighten and Samsung Illusion are solid smartphones providing a true Android experience without the high-end capabilities of more expensive handsets like the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

The Enlighten features a slide-out keyboard perfect for those in love with text messaging, while the Illusion makes up for its lack of a keyboard with a slightly faster processor and more on-board memory. Either phone makes a perfect Christmas gift for those new to Android.

Order today from Apple for it to arrive by Christmas

Apple is still guaranteeing Christmas delivery for items ordered from its online Apple Store, but those orders have to happen today, December 21st. Interesting gift items include an Apple TV box for $99.99 and a Magic Trackpad for those budding artists priced at $69.99.

The smart Columbus shopper in the market for an iPad 2 would do well to visit the local Micro Center store on Bethel Road, where they save $50 off of the full line of iPads in stock.

No matter the technology choice, shoppers need to strike quickly to take advantage of these last minute holiday deals.
