Snowy, cold weather has blanketed the nation, but winning the HGTV Dream Home 2014 giveaway prize could turn depressed winter travelers into happy home nesters very soon. Valentine's Day is the last day to enter the home and garden contest, which is free and open to anyone aged 21 and over. But you must be a legal U.S. resident. The home and garden company is hoping that some people will even volunteer to help man the premises of the home today, according to this Feb. 14 KOLO News Now 8 report, so physical tours of the giveaway residence can continue.

It costs $20 to tour the home, and tour volunteers are needed for two different tour shift times: 9:34 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. PT and 12:45 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. PT. And the proceeds raised will go towards a good cause in the community.

To make it super easy for you to enter to win this over $2 million dollar prize from the warmth and convenience of your own home, click here for the online entry form. And click here for the second online chance they give you to win at Frontdoor.com.

And if you are smart, you will also enter to win the free flooring products and cash being offered at Frontdoor.com from Lumber Liquidators as well. After all, this is the same company that put down that gorgeous wood flooring in sections of the dream home.

If you prefer to mail in your dream home entry, you better do it today, and it has to reach them by February 21. Mail-in entries must contain your name, physical mailing address, date of birth and a phone number you can be reached at in the event you win. You also need to put at the top of the 3.5 by 8.5 index card that this is for the 2014 HGTV Dream Home giveaway. And don't forget to affix postage to the envelope. You wouldn't want that entry returned.

The winner is supposed to be announced between March 3-9, 2014. And the winning weekend celebration is slated to occur in early April. But some speculation has emerged about who could afford to keep such a prize, since taxes on a $2 million dollar home can be quite substantial, and the $250,000 prize money that comes with this free home couldn't cover all of the tax expense, if you wanted to pay taxes that way.

Interestingly, you don't have to give up the dream of living in this dream home just because property taxes and IRS giveaway income taxes are a concern. For example, you could always consider a reverse mortgage loan. That way you can live in your new Truckee, Calif. property and even enjoy an income from it in excess of what you need to pay those tax bills. But you would be sacrificing equity of the property as you do, so there is that consideration.

Be sure to check back here in early March to learn who won the 2015 GMC Yukon Denali vehicle, the $250,000 in cash, and the $2 million-valued dream home giveaway from Home and Garden Television.

Those interested in learning who won the HGTV Piece of the Dream Contest are out of luck right now, however, as the company still hasn't posted the names of the Round 1, Round 2 or Round 3 winners. Their website reported that information would be available on the site by January 31st, but it still isn't accessible for some reason. And that's a shame, as many are curious to know who took home some of the same beautiful items used in the new dream home.
