Ready to join 50,000 runners as they take over the streets of New York City on Sunday, November 2, 2014? Today is the last day that you can enter the lottery, securing your chance to run the 2014 TCS New York City Marathon.
Typically, approximately 150,000 people enter the lottery each year from around the world. The cost to enter the lottery is $11, which is processed even if you don't win entry into the race. Registration for the race is $255 per person, or if you are a member of New York Road Runners, it is reduced to $216.
Guaranteed entry options are available. For those that have met the time standard or completed the 9+1 guaranteed entry program, today is the last day to enter with guaranteed entry. Running with a charity also offers guaranteed entry, but does require that you fundraise a minimum amount of money.
The race, which is part of the World Marathon Majors, winds through all five boroughs of New York City. It starts in Staten Island, where runners cross the Verrazano Bridge to enter Brooklyn. After winding through Brooklyn, runners enter Queens and Manhattan. After running through the Bronx, the course returns to Manhattan, where it finishes in Central Park.
Lottery winners will be selected at the end of March, at a date to be determined by the New York Road Runners.
