Since the beginning of summer in June, Vans has hosted more than 15 artists at the annual free house parties in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Tonight, Holy Ghost! will close out the last show of the 2014 series as the headlining act proceeding Kim Ann Foxman and Dave P.
RSVPs for the in-demand shows were doled out earlier in the summer, but concertgoers wishing to gain entry can line up at House of Vans early for a chance to see the show. Admission is free and given first come, first serve.
Tonight's show ensures raucous dance vibes throughout the evening. Brooklyn's Holy Ghost! ends up back in the city after a summer tour across the US. The ambient synth group follows Kim Ann Foxman, a globally renowned house DJ who grew up in Hawaii. Dave P has toured with Simian Mobile Disco with his DJ partner, but he'll play a solo set to open tonight's Vans House Party.
Earlier in the summer, Charles Bradley played an incredible soul set in front of indie jammer, Mac Demarco. The two sets didn't gel, but both were respectable sets -- in fact, Charles Bradley's sheer talent and showmanship brought the roof down on the crowd of confused hipsters. Vans' finale show of 2014 seems more pointed to a specific audience -- those who are ready to come dance.
Since June, artists like STRFKR, Pool Side, Chrome Sparks, Gorilla Biscuits, Future Islands and Omar Souleyman have played the 2014 Vans House Parties.
