Update 12/29/13: According to Jennifer's Facebook thread, the meet and greet on Sunday went well and Jennifer is being spayed for her adoption!

Today a sad "last call" alert has been made for a beautiful, young dog who is housed at the New York Animal Care and Control Manhattan Center.

Her name is Jennifer and she arrived to the animal control facility in early October.

The very length of time that Jennifer has managed to be kept alive is a testament to her wonderful personality.

In early November, a volunteer wrote the following information about this beautiful dog:

And the award for biggest smile and best hugger goes to......drum roll please.............Jennifer......woooo hooooo! This little black and white beauty started wagging her tail as soon as she saw me approach her kennel. I knew I would fall in love with this sweetheart, and it didn't take long. She's stunning in her gleaming black and white coat and little freckled nose. She scampers, hugs, scamper, hugs and repeat. She wears a bright smile and her eyes sparkle with warmth, love and intelligence.

One month later, the stress of being locked away behind bars like a common criminal began to creep into Jennifer's otherwise stellar personality. A volunteer noted that Jennifer was more excitable during this assessment and she displayed more "mouthy" behavior, though aggression was still not noted by those who were assessing her.

Jennifer, who is not even two years of age yet, has had hundreds of people "share" her information on Facebook, but as of yet, nobody has been able to give her the one thing that she needs to survive...a ticket out of the facility.

Today is the end of the road for Jennifer. Please take a moment to network for the smiling dog who loves to hug.
