The Los Angeles County Sheriffs’ Department has scheduled free Certified Emergency Response Team (CERT) training in October, 2011 at the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station, 4554 N. Briggs Ave., La Crescenta.
The course runs for 21 hours over three weeknights and two Saturdays. FEMA mandates that participants must attend all sessions to receive a course certificate.

Participants learn to safely manage utilities, put out small fires, treat medical emergencies and provide basic medical aid, search and rescue victims, organize volunteers, and collect disaster intelligence to support first-responder efforts
