Las Vegas ToysRUs product recall: Bugaboo Cameleon with Car Seat/Wheeled Board

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Bugaboo is voluntarily recalling its adapter models 80400GC01 and 80401GC02. We have learned that incorrect use of a car seat installed with these adapters on a Bugaboo Cameleon in combination with a Wheeled Board model 85500WB01 (on the market since August 2009) can cause a safety risk. If the car seat with adapters is installed on the Bugaboo Cameleon with the child facing the world, and not facing the parent, the release button of the car seat is exposed to the possibility of being hit by the Bugaboo wheeled board accessory, becoming disconnected from the adapter and potentially causing the car seat to fail.The risk does not occur in other Bugaboo stroller + car seat combinations.

While we expect this particular combination of events to occur very rarely, we have designed a service solution to eliminate any possibility of a potential safety hazard. A special part designed by Bugaboo and approved by the CPSC that shields the release button of the car seat will be made available to customers from December 12 2011. Until this service solution is in place, consumers are advised to stop using their adapters and to register for the service solution.
