Las Vegas represented at the Arnold Sports Festival in Ohio

*Lacy Puttuck RD, CISSN, CSCS, USAW is a Registered Dietician and Strength Coach in Las Vegas, and she was asked to lecture this past week at the world famous Arnold Sports Festival Strength and Fitness Trainers Summit in Columbus, Ohio. We sat down with her this week to discuss her trip.

Lacy, I understand you must be extremely busy after coming back from an out of town trip, so thanks for taking the time to sit down with us. How did your trip to Ohio go?

"Fantastic! Everyone who is involved in sports or fitness needs to experience the Arnold at least once in their life! It is an unbelievable spectacle."

I totally agree. Over forty sports and events, the infamous Expo, etc.; it is amazing. Now, why were you asked to go out there?

"For the last eight years, one of the major events is the Strength and Fitness Trainers Summit. It is geared to personal trainers, strength coaches, athletic trainers and other allied health professions, and offers cutting edge workshops of fitness, health, and performance development presented by the top experts in the sport science industry. I was asked to speak regarding the diet and nutritional aspect of performance improvement, and I enthusiastically accepted this invitation to be part of this group of professionals."

Specifically, what was your lecture topic on?

"Practical nutritional strategies for special populations. Basically, coaches and trainers can come across a broad spectrum of athletes and individuals with special needs, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, etc. This lecture gave them the tools needed to evaluate what is presented to them, make suggestions as needed, and then, know when the special needs of their clients are outside the coach’s or trainer’s scope of practice, and refer them to a nutritional specialist, such as a Registered Dietician."

This sounds like it could be very helpful for anyone in the industry, no matter what their professional role may be. Could anyone have attended this Summit?

"Absolutely. Not only could anyone attend, but twenty contact hours were given to attendees for them to use toward CEUs, CECs, etc. Plus, they recieved a cd of all the lectures, conference shirt, and a three-day ticket to attend the Arnold Fitness Expo."

That is one great deal, and a lot of materials. Now, if someone missed your lecture, but wanted the information you offered, what can they do?

"They need to contact me at lacy@dominateyourgame.com. We will soon be offering a DVD, which will not only contain the video of my lecture, but also the entire computer presentation."

Another way for someone to take advantage of all the research that you're doing in Las Vegas. Well, Lacy, thanks for the interview. Stay busy, and I’m looking forward to more information from you in the near future.

"No problem, Michael. Thanks for having me, and you’ll be the first to know!"
