Rain on Friday caused the cancellation of practice and qualifying Friday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, meaning the starting field for both Saturday’s Nationwide Series Sam’s Town 300 and Sunday’s Kobalt Tools 500 will be based on 2012 owners’ points.
Denny Hamlin will start fifth in the No. 11 FedEx Office Toyota Camry on Sunday, while Kyle Busch starts 13th in the No. 18 M&Ms Toyota. Matt Kenseth, driving the No. 20 Dollar General Toyota that was driven by Joey Logano in 2012, starts 18th.
For Saturday’s Nationwide Series race, Brian Vickers will start last year’s owners’ championship-winning No. 20 Dollar General Toyota Camry from the pole, with Elliott Sadler starting 15th in the No. 11 Interstate Batteries Toyota. Busch starts 23rd in the No. 54 Monster Energy Toyota.
The Nationwide Series Sam’s Town 300 gets underway Saturday at 1:15 p.m. PT/4:15 p.m. ET. The Sprint Cup Series Kobalt Tools 500 goes green on Sunday at noon PT/ 3 p.m. ET. Follow this weekend’s action at joegibbsracing.com and www.nascar.com.
