Las Vegas PGA Tour Professional Scott Piercy makes cut at PGA Championship

Las Vegas native Scott Piercy won the Reno-Tahoe Open last Sunday and a spot in the PGA Championship.  As Friday’s play came to a close Piercy positioned himself well inside the cutline.

The win gave him a two year exemption on the PGA Tour and “[relief] that [he] finally broke through and won.”  Father of three, Piercy headed to Atlanta for the season’s final major while his family went on their previously planned SeaWorld vacation.  But the first time Tour winner gained the ability to arrange his schedule with his surge to 80th on the money list, allowing Piercy to propose “another vacation – for [himself]” next week.

Success at the Reno-Tahoe Open translates into financial and domestic success for Piercy.  He reveled in the possibilities of being “home for a birthday or watch the finals of a baseball game or be a soccer dad a little bit.” Piercy’s family oriented comments inspire and endear him to golf fans everywhere, and his reflection on his relief of having a job acknowledges the many currently struggling for the same.

Piercy rebounded off his first round one-over-par with two bogeys and four birdies to achieve his one-under-par current tournament total.  With a cutline of five-over-par Piercy will play this weekend and have a chance at increasing his success on the golf course.
