Las Vegas gay men respond happily to Pope's resignation

The weekly LGBT meeting in Las Vegas was filled with happy faces this evening. Gays and lesbians are celebrating the fact that one of the most homophobic people in the world, Pope Benedict, has decided to resign. He states age and diminishing energy as the reason while others believe he has too many skeletons in his closet.

"This is a horrible man who preys on marginalized people in society," says Lucy McFedder, a local Lesbian activist. "To think he covered up for child molestation for all those years and he has the nerve to condemn gays and lesbians," she continues.

"I don't think it matters too much," says Las Vegas school teacher John Efrain. "The Catholic church has lost a lot of members over the past two decades, including myself. Any Pope that takes his place certainly won't have a lot of influence."

Many of the people at the meeting believe that the next Pope will continue the homophobic policies of the Catholic Church and that the media needs to call the Catholic Church out more for its homophobia. What do you think of the Pope's resignation?
