On behalf of the Love Dogs animal therapy program and Pet Partners I was honored to be chosen Fox 5 News Shining Star for our work in the Las Vegas community. This monthly recognition of one individual is sponsored by Fairway Chevrolet and a generous award is bestowed upon the monthly Shining Star.
The evening news anchor, Olivia Fierro, came to our adopted school to film day one of our bully program, Be Cool Not Cruel. The students were excited to have her with us as well as a cameraperson but they were all so engaging and engaged in the lesson. I met with them earlier and asked them to help me keep the seven dogs calm ... by being calm themselves! It worked!
Yes we had seven Pet Partner therapy teams in the classroom and each dog had a story to tell that related to being misunderstood or bullied.
After filming the class I was interviewed in the school's lovely courtyard.
Then we were off to Fairway Chevrolet for the award presentation. And there we had 9 dogs! We packed the showroom with Love Dogs!
We had with us our largest dog, George, and our smallest, Petey and our youngest human volunteer. What a great turnout to support our team.
We invited one of our clients, Julian, and his mom and brother to join us and they had a great experience with all the dogs.
This recognition of our unique programming was greatly appreciated as our volunteer handlers and animals every single day go out into the community in educational and therapeutic settings, improving lives one paw at a time.
