Larry Hagman’s scenic L.A. beach home has been sold for $5 million, according to a TMZ report dated Friday, March 15.
The “Dallas” star’s 3,029 square-foot Santa Monica Penthouse was placed on the market back in January. Hagman passed away on November, 23, 2012.
The penthouse features a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean, and floor-to-ceiling windows, along with a glass elevator shared with only a few other tenants. The penthouse also has a massive balcony, and a large pool area.
TMZ has learned that the lucky buyers just happen to be big fans of J.R. Ewing. Reportedly the new owners were interested in the place before the knew it belonged to the legendary Hagman, but upon finding out that information, it was nearly impossible to let go.
Sources tell TMZ, that the new penthouse residents are making plans to remodel their new pad. They are wanting to modernize the overall appearance, and to open up the floor plan.
After going back to his role as J.R. in 2011, Hagman found out in October of that year that he had a ‘treatable’ form of throat cancer. The TV villain decide to continue working, while receiving treatment. Three years before his diagnosis, his wife of 58 years, Maj Axelsson was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. As of 2010, she has been requiring 24-hour nursing care.
With all of the health afflictions facing the couple, they downsized and put their 43-acre Ojai ranch on the market last year. It was listed at $11 million, but the price has now decreased to $6.495 million. At 20,000 square-foot, this home is another desirable place for one to rest their head. The couple called the property “Heaven.” Featuring nine bedrooms, nine bathrooms, five swimming pools, beautiful landscaping, and a priceless 360-degree view of the mountains and Pacific Ocean, fans can be led to believe that Hagman sure had good taste in homes.
