LARP resources: Where to ask questions

On forums, message boards and social media sites, I see messages from would-be LARPers (live action role players) every day reading something like this:

I really want to LARP, but I'm afraid to.

I'm so shy but I want to LARP.

I wish my friends would go LARPing with me. I don't want to go since I don't know anyone.

These are frequent reasons cited for not attending a LARP. While I agree that it can be easier (and sometimes more fun) to LARP with friends, an outgoing character and a fearless personality, none of those things are required to start LARPing - and you shouldn't let the lack of them stop you.

Every time I see posts like this, I want to just take the poster by the hand and ask her or him to please come LARPing with me. Unfortunately, my friends and I don't live near everyone so I can't always do that. However, there are plenty of friendly, encouraging LARPs all around the country that would love to have you attend their games.
