In the last few days, Chicago companies have been posting their pride all over the web because they were nominated for a Chicago Innovation Award. Among those posting were Hispanically Speaking News on their own website and Rabine Group on their LinkedIn page.
The award program that many would argue is making a difference in business is The Innovators Connection. This is part of the Chicago Innovation Awards and it recognizes the work of innovative small businesses and contributions of large corporations.
Both large and small businesses benefit from the partnerships made through The Innovators Connection. Large corporations get connected with start-ups that have fresh ideas, new business models and creative resources. At the same time, the small businesses gain greater connections and meaningful customer bases.
This partnership idea is innovative in itself; breaking down the silos businesses have been working in for decades. For example, since the big companies had Black Friday, the small companies had to create Small Business Saturday.
If both parties of these new partnerships reap some benefits, their customers will win too. Some are saying that this idea will be the way back into a healthy economy. Whether or not that is true, it should make for better business because networks of organizations will grow faster and reach further than individual organizations.
