Lara vs Alvarez on SHOWTIME PPV
Alvarez (L) and Lara make for an exciting SHOWTIME PPV card this Saturday night

This Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, SHOWTIME PPV presents ‘HONOR & GLORY’, featuring Mexican star Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez (43-1-1, 31 KO’s) taking on Cuban phenom Erislandy ‘The Amercian Dream’ Lara (19-1-2, 12 KO’s) in a scheduled for 12 rounds 155 pounds contest where ‘no love is lost’ on either side.

The 23 years-old, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 154 pounds Alvarez has established himself as ‘heir to the throne of boxing’ with the 31 years-old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 154 pounds Lara determined to show Alvarez his place on that pedestal is still a long way away, both fighters displaying skills offering unique opportunities to shine.

It’s well documented these two have common opponents in Austin ‘No Doubt’ Trout and Alfredo ‘El Perro’ Angulo, both Lara and Alvarez coming away with impressive wins.

Las Vegas odds makers have Alvarez an early favorite, his power giving him the edge to most, but Lara has lightening quick hands and excellent footwork the likes of Floyd Mayweather, Jr. that style so frustrating Alvarez in his fight with Mayweather, Jr. it became little more than a high paying sparring session, Alvarez being completely dominated and losing by unanimous decision.

Lara was down in rounds 4 and 9 against Angulo, coming back to stop him in round 10 for the WBA World light middleweight title just over a year ago, giving some concern with Alvarez a seemingly harder puncher than Angulo.

Young ‘Canelo’ Alvarez has not let that Mayweather, Jr. performance deter his path, him dominant and impressive in stopping the rugged veteran Angulo in 10 rounds back in March of this year.

Austin Trout gave Alvarez everything he could handle and more, Alvarez pulling out the somewhat controversial unanimous decision win in April of 2013, Trout on the canvas in round 7.

Both Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Erislandy ‘The American Dream’ Lara possess skills that could have either man stopped or the fight going the distance.

The recent divorce between Richard Schaefer and Golden Boy Promotions has this show being the first with 'no Schaefer', much riding on this fight for the career of Alvarez and the reputation of Oscar de la hoya and Golden Boy Promotions.

An excellent undercard makes this a card you just can’t afford to miss with featherweights Abner Mares vs Jonathan Oquendo, Super featherweights Juan Manuel Lopez vs Francisco Vargas and junior welterweights Johan Perez vs Mauricio Herrera well worth the PPV price.

All area HOOTERS Restaurant’s will carry the fight for a reasonable fee.
