Start times range 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. for the scenic Kettle Moraine State Forest running challenges. All runners will begin near Lupo Pond in the Lapham Park Unit, located south of Delafield. Marathoners will make four loops, as half-marathoners do two loops, and 10K runners do one.
The hilly trail is 12 to 15 feet wide, with varying terrain. On the first loop of the run, the marathon and half-marathon racers will climb Lapham Park’s observation tower, stretching to more than 1,200 feet to be Waukesha County’s highest point.
Race organizers have limited the entire event to 500 entries. Online registration is closed for the chip-timed runs. Spectators are welcome, however. Parking costs $5 for cars without Wisconsin State Park permits.
Marathoners must complete the entire course by 4 p.m.
Award presentations will take place at 10:30 a.m. for the 10K, 11:30 a.m. for the half-marathon, and 1:00 p.m. for the marathon.
In the 2012 Lapham Park Trail Marathon, Kelcy Boettcher was the women’s winner, finishing in 4:37:57. Nic Giebler took the men’s title, coming in at 3:37:25.
