The Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernian (LAOH) women will soon start ramping up their fundraising efforts to increase their charity giving. These are a group of woman that take their Irish Catholic heritage seriously. The Order is comprised of a group of women that promote Friendship, Unity and Christian Charity among its members and the community. This also foster the ideas, history and traditions of the Irish culture.
Each year the ladies host several fundraising events to provide for local community and national charities. These woman have a long list of charitable works that they provide for. " It is not all hard work, some of the work we do is fun and enjoyable, like cooking breakfast for the families at the local Ronald McDonald House. We ladies have a blast feeding and talking with the families. It is about getting to know them." reports the division president, Margaret McAlpin. This year they are continuing with the 5th Annual Irish American Heritage Fundraiser Night at The McGynns Pub in Newark. Each year in June, the ladies sponsor a "Restaurant Night" at McGynns Pub located at 8 Polly Drummond Shopping Center in Newark, Delaware. They are also releasing a 2015 Irish Tea Time Calendar this year. This is something new in fundraising for the ladies. Each month of the calendar will feature a different tea pastry with a companion recipe. The calendar will also have a Irish Mothers dedication page that will showcase the Mary Mother of Hope houses and the services they provide. On the back of the calendar are the donating sponsors of the calendar. The calendar will be released in the July with the proceeds benefiting the Mary Mother of Hope Women's Shelter. Calendars can be purchase with a donation through their Crowdraise fundraiser site. Also, calendars can be purchase with donation through the LAOH website and at the annual Irish Night at the Blue Rocks on June 4th. Come out and talk with the ladies on Wednesday, June 4th and support your Irish Heritage!
